This morning we went into Darling Harbour to check out the new water play area, it was really really great, perfect for all ages however Leo did complain that there wasn't a big body of water to swim in, That shall be fixed on Monday when the little one is in daycare. Swimming (proper swimming) with Minna is just dangerous! the water park was just right for her.

Today I did some more sewing, I made Minna a little dress that I just adore on her. I'd love to make her some matching knickers to go over her nappy but I don't have a pattern. I'm sure I can find one on the net though.

So today is the last day of my photo challenge. Part of me is happy it's over and pert of me is sad. I know I'll look back at these in years to come and love them but it is hard work doing it each day. I will definitely be doing it again next year for January.

Ohhh how I feel ill and so very guilty, today we ate a lot of food, it was all naughty naughty stuff. Tomorrow will be filled with good healthy food and lots of water.

Today went something like this....... "Mum I want to make a cake" ............"Muuuuum I really really reaaaaaalllly feel like making a cake" .................. I say "okay but I'm not going to do a thing, you'll have to make it all by yourself, I'll just tell you what to do" and she did, all by herself. She even put it in the oven and iced it. Now I've got a bloody chocolate cake sitting on my kitchen bench saying "eat me eat me"

My photos are getting rather uninteresting to say the least. I need to get my creativity happening again. Oh and please excuse the messy kitchen bench!

This morning I had a family photo shoot, it was great and all went well, gorgeous family and very cute baby! when I got home I had 5 minutes before Minna woke from her morning nap, we went outside with suncream lathered and hats on, some sandpit play was in order followed by some splashy time in the clam shell. In the evening we went outside again and played some silly games, I wonder if other families are as crazy as ours? We made up a heap of games for the kids to do, it was rather funny. Minna still seems to be rather fond of her mother ship, so here is the photo of the day, her doing what she does best, finding me, clinging and demanding to be picked up. Lucky I love her back!

Today we headed into the city to see Mirazozo click here I had no idea it was on until a friend on facebook had gone and once I saw her photos I just HAD to go check it out with the kids.

We all thought it was great until Minna decided she had enough (I think she was hungry lol) so off we went, I could have spent a bit more time in there with my camera but what can you do?!

Today we took the kids to a very cool park which has a water play area, the kids loved it and Minna seems to be quite the water baby, Swim lessons start next month.

Tonight's dinner was Spinach and Ricotta Cannelloni. A messy messy meal when a certain 1 year old wants to feed herself. So I decide to put her outside to eat and figure the birds can tidy up the mess. Once the food was eaten the child had an orange tinge thanks to the creamy tomato sauce, her hair was also lathered in a lovely ricotta and spinach spread........... There was no way this kid was allowed inside so we brought the bath outside. She thought it was a great idea!

Today Vienna came over for a play, so she is the subject matter for today's photo. We had to pop over to the shopping centre and instead if buying junk food as a treat I bought both the girls a matching dress, of course the deal was that it had to be on sale and within budget. I know a donut would have been cheaper but at least this way they have something to keep :)

I had to laugh when I saw this on the LCD. It was taken at 24mm and I knew it would give the distortion of my forearms but I didn't expect this much. Minna is looking at an aeroplane in the sky (yes us Australian's call them aeroplanes not airplanes lol)

I promise that tomorrow I will not feature in a photograph, sorry but sometimes it is just easier to shoot oneself!

Yawn..... I'm a bit weary. All kids in bed now and I'm trying to get an album finished for a client.

Today's photo. That self timer on the camera does come in handy. Fluke shot, somehow I managed to get this in one go. I'm not complaining.

..............and if you are wondering what was for dinner, I can't tell you exactly as I just made it up but it had the following. Onion, garlic, cabbage, green beans, chorizo, tomato :) all good yummy stuff and no evil cabs.

Day - 16 Siblings

Today I caught a special moment between Leo and Minna. We notice each day that Minna is growing, not only in size but she is growing into a lovely little person. She can be quite a handful at times and will certainly let everyone know that she isn't happy when she isn't. Poor Leo sometimes cops a beating from her, she loves to grab at this glasses and can be quite rough with him, but Leo just lets her do it, only with noisy complaints of "no Minna, don't do that!" and he will never hurt her which is just the sweetest thing. For a while Leo has been feeling every bit of the middle child that he is, but we now see that he has a lot more in common with his baby sister than Abby does. It is so sweet to watch them play, she really does love her big brother and I know she will have his protection forever. Sigh.....I just love my kids to bits xx

Day - 15 Last resort

Busy day today, I had my first shoot for the year, although I've enjoyed my time off I just loved getting back into things today. I got all excited driving out to the pre wedding session, I just love that feeling of excitement.

I would have shared a photo from today's shoot but it was a private client session so all I can tell you is that it was great fun and I have come lovely photos to show my clients in a few days time.

So just realising that I haven't taken a personal PAD today I better think of something quick. I played with the idea of using the toaster as a reflection but that didn't turn out so...... I pulled out the ol' take photo of sleeping child trick lol.

Here is Abby sleeping, I've given it a lighten effect to make the image seem more dreamy and also her pink bed lamp didn't help matters.

Oh So tired and I would really like to be n bed right now so guess where I'm going after I hit the "publish post" button?! yep off to nigh nighs lol.

Today I got to catch up with my lovely friend Sam and her Mum Christine, I've known them since I was 8 years old! now I feel old and tired. Oh and I should make mention that I love DFO got some great bargains :)

Today the 2 bigger kids went to play at a friends place so it was just Minna and I at home. I wanted to get a few photos of her without her trying to attack my camera, there are lots of interesting buttons that she always wants to press and play with. Perhaps a sign that she may just take it up when she is older?. So we sat on the floor and had some fun, she is just so smiley it is infections.

So I was a bit stumped for today's photo and was going to take another water drop, Scott said nah it's been done try something new, here's an idea put your camera in the oven and take a photo. lol so I did. I might actually run with this theme and do some home duties/photos, I can clean and click at the same time!

No chips were harmed in the making of this photo, they were placed carefully back in the freezer.

As for our day, Abby had one of her friends from School over for a play date, it was filled with glitter, cupcakes and lots of Barbie play. Oh to be a child again.

Day - 11 Sand art and sadness

Today we woke to the shocking news about QLD floods, it is so surreal to see the images on TV. I wish everyone in QLD strength to get through this natural disaster. Be safe and don't underestimate the strength of water, however I don't think anyone does now after seeing the footage on the news. Scary stuff.

I watched a lot of news about the floods today and Abby was very bored, so we went and bought some craft supplies for her play date who is coming tomorrow, in the afternoon we decided to do some sand art, tomorrow it will be glitter art!

Day 10 my little photographer

Today is the first day back at work for Scott and Leo is back at Pre School. So it's just the girls at home. I asked Abby if she wanted to have a play with one of my cameras, she jumped at the chance and wanted me to teach her how to use it.

Abby is my PAD and here are some more that we both took.

I shot this to explain to Abby about shutter speed, I asked her to move around while I took it. She moved a lot lol.

She took these photos of Leo's favourite toys, it was good to see her rearrange things and make the shot look good. She hasn't yet learnt about horizon lines and crooked images!

I love that she took this photo all on her own with the concept in her head before hand. She said she wanted to find some nice leaves and circle them around a strawberry. I think she did well :)

She had this idea in her head of how this photo should look but found the macro lens too tricky to hold, so she set it up by carefully placing the flowers in the right position then told me how she wanted me to take the photo.

She wanted to take a photo of me, she did ok.

She said she wanted to take a photo of herself like I did the other day, here I am trying to show her how to do it which is really quite tricky to do.

This afternoon we went to the local park, the kids really needed to get out of the house run around a bit.

I tried unsuccessfully to get some business work done. I'm behind on a couple of things so that's what I'll be working on tonight. I'd much rather watch Bear Grylls on fox but it he will have to wait for me. Oh how I do like Bear hehe.

Day 7

Busy day for the kids, I dare say that had a lot of fun!
In the morning Leo and I went to the shops to buy him some textas, he wasn't impressed that Abby had bought some and didn't want to share so we went to get some of his own. After Lunch we took the kids plus our friend Gordon with us to Wizzy World (kids play centre) It is the perfect place to take kids on rainy days and they all had a blast including Minna, she had been there before but that was back in the day when she was more interested in milk and sleep. She just loved it! I'll have to take her back for more fun and adventure. She even found a boy the same age as her and I think they fell in love, it was the cutest thing, they looked at each other and then embraced, hehe so cute.

After Wizzy World we dropped Gordon home and relaxed (well I tried to with Minna getting into mischief) When we returned home I needed to keep Minna up until bedtime so I put her in a wash basket with water, she had a lovely time until it started raining about 2 minutes after she got in.

Today was just lovely. Sigh, I got to have some me time which doesn't happen very often. I went into the city and caught up with Johnno and his new girlfriend Einat to go see the Annie Leibovitz exhibition. It was fantastic! I enjoyed looking at each image and trying to figure out the lighting, admired the compositions and just enjoyed seeing this fantastic photographers work.

In the morning I laid a big kiss on each of the kids and had to get a quick snap of them, Leo doesn't like messy things on him so there was no time to catch a photo of his kissed cheek.

Today we finally got the kids out of the house, well the 2 big ones anyhow. It was suggested that we go play putt putt golf and we decided that was a great idea so off we went. For those interested Scott was first followed by me then Abby and Leo.

Day 3 PAD

Today was a mixture of lazy, mad, nutty, clingy, whiny. I didn't step foot outside of my home (apart from the garden) tomorrow I'm getting out!

Here is Minna enjoying her cold sausage. She has discovered tomato sauce and rather likes it and sometimes say's "dip dip"

Leo is into drawing and writing, he was never that interested in anything to do with paper other than throw it and rip it, so I'm rather pleased he has finally shown an interest. He could be going to school but we've decided he can have another year of home/preschool.

We had another quick storm roll on by today and it left us without power for over a hour, so I went outside to explore the garden. I've decided that spider webs are gross, after taking a macro shot of one today (see below) you can see how disgusting they really are and I guess after all they do come out of the spider's rear end, ewwww.

2011 PAD (photo a day) Challenge

Just for January I'm going to concentrate on doing a photo challenge where by I take a snap a day. It doesn't have to be a perfect photo if anything it is to just get back to basics and document life. I've already completed my first 2 days and wasn't going to blog them but I've changed my mind and re opened this old dusty thing. As you can see the previous post was back in April last year so it has been a while.

Day 1:
Trying to think back 2 days ago is actually harder that you think. Well for me anyhow. So from my vague memory I think we didn't do too much other than a tidy up of our bedroom which starting looking like half bedroom/ half computer construction room. I'm happy to have my space back now and wouldn't mind re decorating it. Don't know if/when that will ever happen though

Day 2:
Yesterday we enjoyed the company of some friends who came over for a BBQ lunch. I met these lovely people a few years ago in an online photography forum, I'd met up with Johnno a few times for little photo shoots here and there and a year ago I met Dave in person for the first time. I love how something like photography can bring people together. You can find David here and Johnno here The only thing that I can pick about these guys is that they use Canon! okay only kidding but that was the running joke, I use Nikon and that is somehow a bad thing? well I'll just let them think that and be happy with what I have thanks!

Here is the photo for the day, a last minute attempt as a storm started once our visitors left. I was expecting a blackout so the candle made for good use as a photo prop.

Where the heck did April go?

April........ it went so quickly but was full of fun. School holidays, Easter, bike riding, babies getting fat, loosing teeth, the list goes on.

First up we went to visit my parents for Easter. The children just about fell over with excitement when we arrived because my dad had built them as a surprise fort/cubby. It was made mostly out of recycled timber from an unused hut on their property. My dad had mentioned to me that he would do it but I never thought his elaborate plan would actually come true! we are still baffled at how he managed to get up there and construct the thing. Well done Dad we are very impressed.

The big kid finally learnt how to ride her bike without training wheels! actually I make it sound as though we have been teaching her forever, but in fact we were always too lazy and if we knew it would only take about an hour to learn we would have done it a long time ago.

On to the baby, well the baby is great, she is still growing and growing and growing. I would be quite happy if she just stopped for a while, she has grown SO much that I've gone through so many clothes that we can't keep up. I'm planning on doing a check in at the clinic so we can see what can be done with her ever expanding tummy! I never thought I would have that problem with a child. You would think I'd be happy with a fat baby after having miss fussy eater but no, I obviously can't be pleased.

Finally I can't post without mentioning our wonderful friends! last weekend we caught up with my dear sweet lovely friends from Germany. I met Simone almost 4 years ago at a local playgroup and we instantly formed a great friendship. Simone was here in Australia for her husbands work and didn't speak much English, that didn't matter we had her handy translator gadget thing and were able to communicate quite well. Now Simone's English is So good that she can read novels without any problems :) it did make me realise how weird the English language is though........for instance, Traffic Jam, just think about it for a second......... hmmm yep there were many funny moments trying to explain words and phrases. Anyway a year ago Simone went back to Germany with the kids, it was really sad to see her go but Stefan is still working here so luckily they came back for a holiday and made the trip up from Melbourne last weekend to catch up with their Sydney friends. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we will be able to see them again this year! Thanks Simone and Stefan for driving all the way from Melbourne we loved seeing you all very much xxx

Many faces of Minna

Ok I finally found a few minutes to update the blog with some photos of Minna.

She is changing daily and it's all going too quickly! my baby is now no longer considered a newborn :( she is 3.5 months old and I'm so in love with her.

She is putting on weight really quickly now, 6.2kg of baby and she has the leg rolls to prove it! she is enjoying her sleep time which is great considering the other 2 kiddies were also good sleepers, I thought I would be punished with the 3rd baby but luckily it hasn't happened.

She loves her mummy to bits and loves to talk baby babble all the time. Her face lights up when I get close and have a little chat. Her favourite song is row row row your boat, even if she is getting cranky she will smile when I sing to her. I really don't know why because I think I sound like Fran Fine when I sing eeeek!
Fortunately I've been able to keep breastfeeding which is great, we still need to give her formula as well but it all seems to be working well, she doesn't care what she gets as long as she has a full stomach!

4 Years ago today...

..... I gave birth to my son Leo. Wow it has gone by so quickly, today I had a look through some old photos of him as a baby and I remember thinking back then "I wonder what my boy will be like in a few years time" well fast forward to now and I know. My boy, he loves his family and never wants to be in trouble. He is sensitive and caring. He loves to push his older sisters buttons and he loves to be gentle with his baby sister.
I've noticed him change over the past few months, he is becoming more confident which is great and he is even trying to push some boundaries with me. But they are the joys of having a 4 year old boy. He is my little man and always will be.
I love him to the moon and back.

Ok so this post must be way overdue, I keep being reminded by my dear father in law that I need to add some more photos. So here they are.

First off we have a few pics of her cute little face, she is changing daily and I'm just trying to absorb my beautiful baby girl as much as I can. Sometimes my face literally hurts from smiling at her. She is simply DIVINE in every way, it never ceases to amaze me how much love you can feel for your own children.

As for life with us, all is good, actually NO all is GREAT. Minna loves her sleep YAY!!! just like her brother and sister she loves to be in bed dreaming about her favourite things. Her record for sleep so far is 11 hours straight, yep what a good darling, she knows how to make her mum happy. As for other things she is making all sorts of baby noises, she loves to have deep long conversations. She loves listening to me sing nursery rhymes (I'm sure that will change soon, I was not blessed with a singing voice)

2 Months old already!

The last 2 months had be jam packed with all sorts of adventures for us. Wow having 3 kids is not what I thought. In many ways it is easier than 2 but in other ways it is so much more hard work. The easier bit is that the older kids have each other to play with and are not jealous that Mummy is spending so much time with the new baby. The harder things are juggling normal duties like getting one ready for school in the morning while also trying to do a load of washing, do breakfasts, make sure teeth are cleaned and kids are dressed, Lunch is packed and baby is fed and happy! Oh and yes there is myself to attend to also.

Sadly she gets that frown from me and the other 2 kids got that gene too. I swear the frown doesn't mean we are unhappy people ;-)

So I need to slow this blog down a little, everyday it seems to get harder to find the time. From now on it will be when I've got the chance :)

Minna is doing well, she is now gaining weight quickly and even has chunky thighs! she is getting more and more active and her favourite thing to so it smile and chat when she is awake. 8 weeks have gone by so quickly, she is now due for her immunisation and Leo is just about due for his too.

Photos from the last few days minus Australia Day, I was too busy taking it easy at our friends parents house by the pool, water + camera don't mix.

Day 24 - my parents came down for a couple of days to visit :) here the kids are doing the obvious..... drawings.

Day 25 - Someone got their hair cut!!! she wanted a fringe badly and I think it looks quite cute.

Day 27 - Yesterday I had a visit from an old mate Pete, we used to work together many years ago. The last time we caught up Abby was only a few months old!. This photo was taken with his 50mm Sigma 1.4.(I won't be buying one :P)

Day 28 - Back to School!!!!!! it all went well considering someone was a bit nervous about which teacher she would get. She got a good one :) actually they are all great there so there was no issue.

Posted a day late. Someone asked me the other day how I get time to do this blog, well I don't really have time that's why the posts are a day late every now and then :)

Yesterday we tried to give Minna a new hair style, her mohawk is a bit out of control but Scott does think it looks cool.

Today I'm going to try and get a photo of Scott, as a friend of mine pointed out he isn't in one photo yet, but hey neither am I, but I rather it that way. I'm not promising a photo of Scott but I will try. As for me I'm now on a health kick so when I'm feeling better and looking better you'll get a photo of me.

We took the kids to the Ophthalmologist today for their eye check up. Leo's vision has improved slightly which is great! We also had Abby's eyes checked and were given the all clear, phew!

Minna is changing so much, I swear I can almost see her eye lashes growing, each day they seem longer and thicker, I'm hoping she takes after Anne (my mother in law) she has the best set of blinkers. Oh and her hair! talk about mohawk we try and flatten it down but is springs right back up, she looks like a little punk rocker.

Photo/s of the day, Miss Abby, I always find it hard to decide on colour or Black and white so here are bother versions. Her smile isn't 100% Abster true but I didn't have time to get another so it will have to do and hey it's still cute.

Today wasn't my best day, yes the baby did sleep, that wasn't the issue. I took Minna to the clinic for a check up because I was concerned she wasn't putting on enough weight, and well yep I was right, seems that she isn't getting enough milk from me. I put it down to the fact that she isn't attaching properly and is a very sleepy sucker. So it pains me to make the decision to switch to formula when I wanted with all my heart for the breastfeeding to work. I guess on the upside I can now have a glass of red with dinner and start thinking about doing the odd photography job sooner than expected. Why is it that I'm so hung up on breastfeeding? argh! I wish it worked :(.......

These photos were taken yesterday. We had a nice quiet day at home, do I dare admit that the kids were still in their PJ's at 1pm?! naughty naughty Mummy!

Minna has started making baby noises, it is so cute, she is simply adorable when she looks up at me, smiles and tries to talk, sigh :)

Leo's current favourite thing is his Luigi plush toy, Abby has Mario. They have been playing a lot of wii over the holidays probably too much! I'm going to try and get them outside a bit more from now on. We live near some great parks and bike tracks and I should make use of them, not to mention I could do with the exercise.

As for today the camera didn't get used. Abby is having a sleep over at a friends house and Leo was in day care, it was nice to have some one on one time with the baby :)

Well last night went better than expected so I'm a happy Mum and today wasn't too shabby either.

Today's photo if of Miss A playing with my iphone, she thinks it is the coolest thing and has already picked up on how to use it. It amazes me how quickly kids learn, she even has her own log in for the computer and will quite happily log me out and then go check her emails, weird. Oh and NO she isn't going to get an iphone, no way.

As for the baby, she was a good girl today, finally the last week of not wanting to sleep during the day has paid it's toll and she slept!!! now I wonder what will happen tonight. I'm hoping I'll be getting some zzzz's. On that note goodnight!

So this little girl of ours seems to like busy days and quiet nights. I shouldn't complain should I? well I know I shouldn't but seriously it is starting to drive me slightly batty. Her favourite place to be is in my arms preferably sucking my milk making bits, and let me tell you I ain't the best Jersey in town! but I'm hanging in there.

Oh and sorry there is no day 14.

What is it with kids stick on tattoos? The big one put one on last week and it is still fully in tact, very annoying.

Scott went back to work yesterday so life was back to normal + one extra child. I wasn't sure how I'd go but it was actually quite nice to be back in swing of things, of course with a few baby interruptions.

Today the boy went to childcare today so it was just the girls at home. We baked Tea cake while the baby slept, luckily it was a quick easy recipe. I even managed to make a Lasagna for dinner which was rather nice even if I do say so myself.

My left arm is getting very strong from all the baby holding the past few weeks. She loves to be held and all day long if she had it her way. It is quite amazing what one can do with only one arm free.

Today's photo I was a bit lazy but did manage to have a play with the flash. Oh and if anyone does actually read this blog please leave a comment if you like, don't be shy!

Catching up on the last few days. Minna had been giving us some grief (colic we think) so things just had to be put in the too hard basket. Things are looking a lot better now which is great because I think I would have lost my mind.

I absolutely adore the Black and White photo of the girls together, awwww.
While we were visiting my parents they taught Abby how to play Triominos, she is really good and it's nice to be able to play a game that we both like together.

We headed back home today, last night I didn't get a lot of sleep, the baby had me up for most of the night :( but she did manage to sleep the whole way home which was great!

Day 5 - Sunshine and Laughter

The hills were alive with the sound of laughter! Today was filled with fun, water play, climbing trees, chasing each other with the remote control car and more.

Day 4 - Another rainy day

I'd like to have some words with the weather man/woman. What happened to the nice forecast we were expecting? anyway fun was still had so that's the main thing.

Today the kids got to have a tractor ride with Grandpa, apparently it was "really cool" then in the afternoon Grossi (Swiss name for Grandma) had the kids laughing crazy with a bunch of water balloons.

I spent the majority of the day with Minna who decided that she wanted to be cuddled and snack all day so I sat there with my little baby and watched many photo opportunities pass me by, but that's OK, today Minna turned 4 weeks and time is going way too quickly so I'm enjoying my little bundle while I can.

Day 3 - A trip to the country

Today we travelled 5 hours by car to visit my parents. We weren't sure what to expect with Minna but she made us proud. One stop at the golden arches for Brekkie and then she slept the remaining 4 hours! just in time for a feed from me.

The kids got straight into the things they have been nagging me about for the last 2 weeks. Cats, and Chickens. We unfortunately have any pets at home, I'd love to but the other half is not keen on the idea of having a pet. Anyhow the kids are lucky to have a place to go hang out with cats, chickens and a few cows. Not to mention the fresh country air and the sound of ....... nothing, no cars no people (apart from us of course) my parents live in a remote country town so they are lucky to see a car or 2 go past in a day :)

Today we spent the morning shopping. Minna's room is almost finished, all that is missing is a mauve bed side lamp for her room. No doubt photos will be taken when the final purchase is made.
Off to see the grandparents tomorrow, it's so nice to get away from the city.

Another job to add to my hectic life!

So for some strange reason I've decided it would be a good idea to start a personal blog of our family. Why would I do such a thing? well at the moment time seems to be going buy rather quickly and with the birth of our 3rd child I want something to look back at to remember this time.

The plan is that I write a journal entry each day with a photo of my kids doing what ever it is that they are doing. I want to just capture the moments as they are and not have the kids looking at the camera.

Now because I ran out of time to create this blog last night there are 2 posts, one for new years day and today.

First off I need to share a photo of the newest member of our family!
